Mediated learning is central to the Feuerstein method and its associated practices. Through Instrumental Enrichment, the mediator assists learners in interpreting incoming stimuli, which enhances their understanding of the events, objects, and people within their environment. This approach is grounded in a positive belief system that all learners, regardless of their background, can change the way they think and learn.
Research in neuroplasticity supports this theory, confirming that cognitive structures and neural pathways in the brain can be modified through education, indicating that IQ scores are not fixed.
The Learning Propensity Assessment Device is utilized to support individual learners and groups of learners of all ages in developing their learning and thinking skills.

We are experienced and qualified in dynamic assessment using the Feuerstein method, which helps determine which cognitive functions are still developing. This process includes the Learning Propensity Assessment Device to assess an individual's propensity to be modified. In other words, we identify which areas need to be developed and evaluate how much development is likely to be possible in an individual through Instrumental Enrichment.

Instrumental Enrichment (IE), based on the Feuerstein method, is a cognitive intervention program designed to enhance systematic thinking and develop effective learning strategies, often referred to as 'learning to learn.' By fostering awareness of one’s own thinking processes, this program enables individuals to cultivate higher order thinking operations. The exercises are crafted with cognitive concepts and principles that specifically aim to enhance metacognition and higher order thinking skills. Additionally, the Learning Propensity Assessment Device plays a crucial role in assessing and guiding this cognitive development.

Learners are encouraged to bridge the concepts and principles they have acquired through the Feuerstein method and Instrumental Enrichment into class work, daily life, and home and social situations. Participants engage in thinking processes or operations such as planning, problem-solving, self-regulation, critical and creative thinking, and exploring different points of view, all of which can be assessed using the Learning Propensity Assessment Device.

IE Training, which incorporates the Feuerstein method and Instrumental Enrichment, is available in other centres across South Africa upon request. Continuing Professional Development (CPDs) from the Feuerstein Institute and HPCSA will be applied. By participating in IE training workshops and Study Seminars, attendees will also engage with the Learning Propensity Assessment Device.

We offer Mediated Learning Experiences and Instrumental Enrichment sessions, utilizing the Feuerstein method, available as individual or small group sessions. Additionally, we incorporate the Learning Propensity Assessment Device to enhance the learning process.

We offer mediated learning training for parents, educators, facilitators, and caregivers who wish to support learners through the Feuerstein method, including Instrumental Enrichment and the Learning Propensity Assessment Device, to enhance their Mediated Learning Experience.

We offer workshops on Instrumental Enrichment, based on the Feuerstein method, for educators, therapists, counselors, and parents who wish to practice these approaches. Additionally, participants can utilize the Learning Propensity Assessment Device to enhance their understanding.

We offer ongoing coaching for IE practitioners on the Feuerstein method and Instrumental Enrichment after their training is complete, including support with the Learning Propensity Assessment Device.

Lilian Lomofsky is available to conduct talks and seminars on various methods used by the Feuerstein Institute, including the Feuerstein method and Instrumental Enrichment. Additionally, we can connect you with a meeting of an interest group that focuses on the Learning Propensity Assessment Device.
